Spirit of Youth Award Ceremony

The BBC News School Report Group was shortlisted for a Perth and Kinross Spirit of Youth award and attended the ceremony on Friday 18 June at Perth Concert Hall.

There were lots of groups there from schools and organisations throughout Perth & Kinross, and the theme was a touch of neon. During the ceremony there were entertainment breaks, which were enjoyed by everyone. Although the BBC Group did not win the members agreed that it was good fun and well worth going along.

Newsletter Now Out

The Blairgowrie High School Newsletter for June has now gone home via schoolbag mail. Headteacher Gordon Miller’s message to parents and carers includes highlights of this session, and how they relate to Curriculum for Excellence. There are photographs and descriptions of many of the recent activities available at the school, as well as useful information about the coming term.

Malawi Work Party

During June a work party of S5 pupils along with Mrs Linda Clark (who retires as a Maths teacher at the end of term) and Ross Marshall, Link Worker, travelled to Geisha in Malawi, to renew links and provide practical help to the local primary school. Blairgowrie High School, and its community, has raised more than £5000 in the last few years to help Geisha school. After helping with building and painting work, the group went on safari in the Tsavo National Park.
