Blairgowrie High School Parent Council

Our key objectives are:

To improve the learning experience of pupils by the development of a partnership between parents, carers, school staff and pupils.
 
To create opportunities for constructive dialogue between parents, carers, school staff and pupils.
 
To ensure the views of parents and carers are represented to the schools management team and Perth and Kinross Council
 
To be actively involved in the appointment of senior school staff in line with Perth and Kinross Council’s policy on appointments
 
To foster links between the school and the wider community
 
To provide or assist in the provision of facilities for education in the school (not normally provided by Perth and Kinross Council) through fund raising events
 
To ensure all parents and carers are kept fully informed about the parent council's activities.

Membership

Membership of the Parent Council is open to all parents and carers, including school staff, whose children or children in their care attend Blairgowrie High School. Nominations for membership are put to the annual Parent Forum

Meetings

However, all parents and carers are welcome to come to council meetings as observers and join in the discussion. The dates for the next round of meetings up to and including May 2010 are:

14^th January 2010

24^th February 2010

21^st April 2010

31^st May 2010

All the meetings are held in the school, starting at 7.00pm.

Gordon Miller, the Head Teacher and other staff members always come along to these meetings.

In the past local Perth and Kinross Councillors have attended council meetings following an invitation from the council.
